We are doing our best to provide courses to meet your learning needs.  We are offering ESL classes, Farmer Pesticide Certificate, PAL as well as offering new courses such as Digital Photography and Photoshop Elements.  Each year CALC hosts a Women’s Wellness Conference, a Seniors Conference as well as two trade shows. Over the course of the year many classes are offered through CALC.

Literacy is part of everyday social practice – it mediates all aspects of everyday life. Literacy is always part of something else – we are always doing something with it.

The Write Break Literacy Program offers Basic Adult Tutoring with one -on -one or small classroom format. We also offer ESL classes, (English as a SecondLanguage) for those newcomers to Alberta and Canada. Our tutors and instructors have ATESL, Teaching English as a Second Language training and each year the Literacy program has tutor training for interested volunteer tutors. We will also offer Canadian Citizenship classes if a need occurs. Also in the past we have offered English Conversation Classes at a local coffee-shop. The Literacy program also has a Family Literacy component; in two communities, Foremost and Bow Island, at their libraries we offer the Parent Child Mother Goose Program. This is a parent/child program that has rhymes, songs and stories along with a snack, one morning a week. There is no cost to any of the programs except for some materials in the ESL program. If the learner is unable to pay, the learning is subsidized. Our hope to the address the literacy needs of the county and for all to have the skill set they need for everyday living.
